Abode abandoned...... Was it the weight of the heavy pearls of morning dew themselves? Or was it a tussle between predator and prey?....... The web of garlands now glitters alone with no function except to please a photographer passing by

Naked beauty

Gradient

The light yellow of the sun-to-set........ to the darkening blue of the arriving night........ A continuum of several shades in between (I know some physicists+mathematicians will be against this statement). A signal for the shift of paradigm from critters of the day to the critters of the night.....

Blue

Back in the previous winter..... when the sky was at its bluest self.... the air still chill inspite of the sun up high..... and life relatively carefree inspite of some turmoils....... The dull grey of the building standing against the deepest nice shade of blue......

wings

Above the clouds..... above the sun at the horizon...... The wings take me high, leaving the sun behind..... Yet, the sun about to be subdued by darkness catches every wandering eye.....


This pic was taken on a flight from Bangkok, Thailand to Kobe, Japan. I did take pics of the sunset without the wings. But, the one with the wings caught my imagination better.

In the description, i have referred to 'the sun' as a metaphor to Physics, which was my first love.... And 'the wings' is similarly Neuroscience, which is now my affair (and also the reason i got an opportunity to go to Kobe in the first place). The rest of the meaning is simple to get from this background.

Template changed

Although there is no big difference in the appearance in the blog, i have switched from the old blogger 'Minima' template to the new one, for easier management of page elements. But, I've lost all the previous haloscan comments as a tradeoff. And i plan not to have haloscan anymore, inspite of its inviting features, as i don want to lose comments anymore.

This was taken when we were cooking food on top of thadiyandamol. It was a fun experience to have hot rice on a cold night on top of the hills. For more pics taken on the same trek, see my post on my other blog Thadiyandamol again.

Agility

Thats srikanth during his air-kicks.......... I fell a li'l proud of this picture, as i caught him on exactly the position i wanted in a narrow window of time (without his knowledge... or else, it could destroy the naturality of the pic) ... with the sun at the side...... a bit like he's breaking loose from the sun by kickin it off..... Moreover it gives a picture of agility

Slideshows shifted

I thought my photoblog isnt the right place for the bubbleshare slideshows of the photos taken during trips n treks...... as not all of em are taken just for the pure joy of taking pictures, and thereby dilutes the effect of the ones that were. So, i have shifted all those to my personal blog. However, select pictures from that will still be posted here.

red streaks amidst the evening blue

I always wished to witness an aurora. But, since im blessed with a hometown of a very low latitude (13.5 degrees), I cant dream of witnessing one here. The closest thing to it that i can hope for, is the reddened post-sunset clouds, which although in video would be much less glamorous than an aurora, but still worth it in a photo

Side by side

The Port Island in Kobe, being an artificial one, has little room for trees. There are a few parks. But apart from that, trees seemed to be a bit scarce. So, it seemed a nice composition to see natural and artificial side by side.

H2O

A sizeable mass of Dihydrogen monoxide with perturbations on its surface , which lesser mortals stare at and enjoy as waves on a lake.

Shadows

People come into your life...... you enjoy with them....... and then they are gone..... and all that remain are shadows of those joyous moments.........
The shadows follow you...... but they are shadows all the same..... U cant bring them to life.

Sky on fire

The sun was setting, its rays turning a golden shade of red...... and as it it hit the clouds..... the sky was on fire. A fire that lasted a few minutes in the sky, but will be cherished for years to come.

Periyar Lake

This place is a wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary is an island within the Periyar lake. If u take the boat ride takes u around the island, u can see the animals when they come to drink water at the lake. But, this works only in summer. Coz, during the rains (like when we went), the animals are happy drinking from the puddles within the island. Since we weren't at the right time, all we could do was to watch elephants, deer and wild boars at a great distance through binoculars. However, the island had its own independent beauty. And the birds (whose species names i am not aware of, nor interested in!), which are supposedly rare (but beautiful anyway) were sitting on tree stumps protruding from within the lake.

This was taken around a year ago, in a fun trip which i went with college-mates to Thekkadi and Munnar

Dancing atop the Fortress of Death

On a trek up SavanDurga, a hill that lies near Magadi (~50 kms from Bangalore). Savandurga was supposedly once called Savina durga(meaning 'fortress of death'), during the times when the Kempegowdas of Magadi had a fort on top of the hill.

We ascended the hill the hard way round, not because we dint know of the easier route, but rather wanted to get the 'kick' of it. Several life or death situations, some almost-but-not-quite-impossible climbs and some torn jeans later, we almost reached the top. The Sun was waitin to set. We had to reach the top before that. This pic was when we were around a hundred metres from the top. Celebrations had already begun... but we were yet to find a way to reach there!

Dipping the sun in the sea

A fine evening at Calicut beach, Kerala............ Standing at the shore....... tides washing the sand under my feet...... enjoyin the sun dip into the sea....
